Kensington Avenue Primary School admits children from the age of 3 to 11. Our Reception intake is 60 pupils, the admissions authority is The Manor Trust and Reception and in-year admissions are managed on their behalf by Croydon Council. Admission to our Nursery is managed by the school office.

At Kensington Avenue Primary School, we’re excited to welcome your child with open arms and the biggest smile in September as they embark on their educational journey.

Nursery Admissions

At Kensington Avenue we manage our own Nursery admissions in accordance with Croydon Council admissions criteria (See below).

We will admit 52 pupils at the start of Autumn Term. Children will then be separated into one AM class of 26 children and one PM class. Parents can state which session they would prefer on the Nursery Application Form which can be downloaded from the school website or collected from the School Office.

We will need to see your child’s passport of birth certificate and a copy will be submitted with your application.

AM Nursery session is 8.30am-11.30am
PM Nursery session is 12.30pm-3.30pm
Full Time is 8.30am-3.30pm

In Year Admissions

Kensington Avenue Primary School is an inclusive community school.  All admissions are done through the London Borough of Croydon.  We also have our own set of admission forms which will need to be completed before your child starts with us, please see attached.

An in year admission is when a child already attends a school but wishes to transfer to another school during the academic year.

Kensington Avenue Primary School admissions will only contact you when Croydon have made an offer, alternatively please contact the school with proof of offer or contact from Croydon Council.

Appeals timetable

Appeals against admission decisions for Reception places are held according to a strict timetable which applies to all Academies in Croydon in accordance with the admissions code. There is more information on the Croydon Council website here.

 

Transition To Secondary School 

If your child is currently in Year 5 and will be due to transfer to secondary school in September 2026 please visit the following website for important information, including how to apply and when to attend an open day:

Applications for transfer open from 1st September 2025. These have to be completed online

Please note: all application forms for secondary transfer must be received by 31st October 2025.

National offer day

If you apply online you will be emailed the outcome of your application on the evening of 2nd March 2026. 

You will also be sent a notification letter if it has not been possible to offer your first preference school. The notification letter will provide detailed information about the outcome of your application and what do next.
