Dear Mums, Dads and Carers
I would like to welcome everybody that has returned to school this week after the summer holiday and to the new families that are joining us, particularly in Nursery and Reception and I hope to meet you all soon.
I would also like to welcome new staff to Kensington Avenue Primary. They are Mr Davids in 6 Hermes; Mr Hendtlass working with all of Year 6; Ms Ba in 4 Loki and Mrs Ojobo in 4 Thor. Ms Martin has also joined us in Reception and will be teaching Phoenix Class.
You may well already be aware of the sudden death of Ms Pastina on the last day of term. Although it has saddened us, we will be remembering her contribution to the school this year, beginning with a rounder’s competition, next Friday afternoon for the children in Years 4-6. We will also be undertaking fundraising activities for Cats Protection as Ms Pastina was very passionate about their welfare. The funeral will be held in Romania by her family and anybody that would like to make a contribution can do so through the school office.
We have a whole school theme this year of ‘Myths and Legends’ and our class names have been chosen to reflect those of the cultures they learn about in their Learning Journeys. The children will be keen to share this with you at their sharing assembly which this year will be held on Fridays at 2.45pm.
The building works in the bottom playground are scheduled to last until the end of October when we looking forward to a brand new learning space. We hope that there isn’t too much disruption but will keep you up to date if any changes need to be made to access during this time.
Yellow Lines and Parking
Please can I remind drivers not to use the yellow zig-zag lines at the times stated on the signs. If caught you may be fined. The Junior Travel Ambassadors are very keen to promote pupils walking to school safely this year and are sending a letter out soon to let parents know more about how they intend to do this.
